The top speed of these aircraft is reaching 500 mph. There are only a few, at this time, that are able to get to this mark. "Dago Red" is the aircraft that has come the closest to a 500 mph sustained speed. Unfortunatly, the plane was sold last year and its racing career is uncertain.
